UAlberta & China Scholarship Council partnership creates more opportunities than ever!

Recently, I had the opportunity to host a group of 38 Chinese scholars participating in the 3 months long Global Academic Leadership Development Program with the University of Alberta.

Deans and Senior Administrators from some of China’s top universities is currently in Edmonton till June 20th for an intensive professional development courses to make sure they receive high quality programming.

Two weeks ago, I had the honour to accompany this group of highly talented scholar to the City Hall and had a open and frank discussion with our Mayor Don Iveson. Interesting questions being asked ranging from the High Level Bridge to our latest Edmonton First Lady, Sara :-)

GLAD with Don I

But after talking to this group, one common theme is – Edmonton has an open government – an approachable Mayor and an easily assessable City Hall!  Compare to most cities in China, a lot of people actually have never been inside of their city hall, let alone chatting and picture time with their Mayor!
